Dentures in Baltimore, MD

Do you have damaged or missing teeth? Learn more about artificial teeth available through our dental practice and how they can improve your smile.

What Are Dentures?

Your appearance changes when you lose your teeth. It also becomes difficult to chew and speak. Denture implants are custom removable or permanent appliances that contain artificial teeth. They boost your self-confidence because they fix your smile. They also restore the function of your teeth and support the structure of your face. With the right care, the implants can last for several years and improve your dental health over the long term.

What Types of Artificial Teeth Are There?

In general, there are four kinds of dentures, but you don’t have to choose alone. After an assessment, our dentists will talk with you about your options and help you decide.

Full and Partial Cosmetic Teeth

A full or complete denture replaces all of your original teeth in the lower or upper jaw. If some of your own teeth still remain, our dentists will remove them first. You’ll receive a temporary denture to wear while you wait for your mouth to heal after the procedure. You can be fitted for the permanent denture after you heal. You have the option between removable and fixed dentures. We’ll use dental implants to anchor the fixed appliance to your jaw.

When you want to keep the natural teeth that you have left, a partial denture will fit your needs better. It allows you to keep your teeth and only replaces the ones that are missing. Rather than being permanently attached to your teeth, it clasps over your existing teeth, and you remove it for cleaning every night.

Flexible Partial Artificial Teeth

While traditional partial dentures use a rigid base and metal clasps, flexible partial artificial teeth are made with lightweight materials. The appliance bends with your mouth so that it’s more comfortable. It also has flexible clasps, and the gum-colored base makes it blend in with your natural gums for a more natural appearance.

Implant-Supported Denture Implants

Conventional dentures rest on your gums, but an implant-supported denture is anchored to your jaw with dental implants. You may need two to four implants for the support. Most people only need implant-support appliances for their lower jaws. Appliances for the upper jaw don’t usually require the additional stability. An implant-supported denture is still removable, so you need to take it out for cleaning during the evenings.

What Are All-on-Four Denture Implants?

With all-on-four dentures, you get to have the best of two worlds. You get a full set of cosmetic teeth and the extra stability that implants offer. This is because the dentures are permanently anchored to four implants on the bottom jaw.

What Is a Denture Soft Reline?

Conventional dentures generally have a hard acrylic lining that can cause sores and pain in your mouth. Getting a soft denture reline can ease these symptoms because it uses a soft, pliable material that lasts for up to two years.

What Is the Denture Implant Process?

There are multiple phases for getting dentures. Securing the appliance doesn’t start until after you have any necessary dental work, such as tooth removal and implant insertion. Then, our dentists will take impressions and measurements of your mouth to make the denture. When it’s done, they’ll make any needed adjustments to ensure that it accurately mimics your natural bite.

How Much Do Dental Cosmetics Cost?

The expense of dentures depends on the materials that they’re made out of and the style that you choose. It also depends on whether or not you need extra dental procedures. Our dentists offer guidance on how much different dentures cost. Contact our office now to learn how to get affordable quality dentures.
